We have now done the journey and due to financial restraints at the end of our 7 month round the world trip we took the bus. We booked via our hotel with Hang Tep Travel and left our hotel at 7.30 and arrived into bangkok at 4.45 - not too bad journey time, seeing as we didn t leave Siem Reap until about 9am after picking everyone up. The bus to the border was nt the most modern but was comfortable enough and you stop twice before the border.
How to travel from Siem Reap to Bangkok
When you want to travel from Siem Reap to Bangkok, there are a few ways to do it, some more controversial than others. Although most travelers don’t recommend it, you can take the bus. Taking the bus costs about 9 dollars and you can get a ticket from any travel agent in Siem Reap. Some travelers report that they had really comfortable rides and there wasn’t anything wrong with the conditions they had during their journey. The only problem would probably be at the border where you will have to wait for an hour. It usually takes about 7 hours to reach Bangkok when choosing the bus.
If you wish to be safer and take the train you can travel at Poipet and then take the afternoon train from Aranyaprathet to Bangkok and it will cost you about 40 dollars. However, make sure that you stay at least a full day in Siem Reap, because it’s a really nice place to visit.
